Junior Diploma Award

After speaking with some exhibitors over the course of the time we have been showing, we have found out that not everyone knows there is a Junior Diploma award available.

Junior Diploma cards can be gotten at the I.K.C. stand at shows for a small fee of €2.
You can also ring the I.K.C. and request a card, which should arrive in the post.

    The basics are as follows:
The Junior Diploma involves going to both Championship shows and Open shows.
You need a total of 12 points.
2 Class wins at Championship shows are needed. (2 points for each show)
8 Class wins at Open shows are needed. (1 point for each show)
The dog must be between 6 and 18 months old.

Bonus points are available at certain Open shows (though we have never seen this since we started showing last October), and bonus points are available for a Group win.

    The full details:
    For the Junior Diploma Award:
Exhibits compete at both Open shows and Championship shows. They must be between the age of 6 months and 18 months on the day of the show. They must win a total of 12 Junior Diploma points in the following manner:

    Open Shows:
    (1) They are placed 1st in any class, whether for their Breed if scheduled.
Or in any other class within their Group i.e. A.V.Toy etc. or any mixed breed class within their group at Open Show level.
Only one class win, per show gaining 1 point.

A bonus of 2 points will be awarded if the exhibit wins its Relevant Group on one occasion.

    (2) Championship Shows: 2 class wins at Championship Shows under 18 months must also be attained, each class win gains 2 points.

The Judge's must sign all awards on the day, giving details of the show and Class/Group won.

Note: Only one class win (1 point Open Show) (2 Points CH. Show) and (One Open Show Group win, 2 points) per show, will count in the total. Multiple wins at one show will not count.

When the card has been filled, and you have the required amount of points from both Open and Championship shows, sign the card and send it off to the I.K.C.

Depending on how busy they are, a Junior Diploma certificate should arrive in the post shortly after you apply for it. [Certificate image to come]

Fingers crossed though, I am sure he will.
Hopefully more Open shows won't be cancelled this year, and hopefully there will be more separate classes, instead of putting a lot of breeds in together.
