    Chocolate contains theobromine, which is a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic.

    When a dog has an overdose of chocolate, they can become very excited and hyperactive. The dog may be very thirsty also, due to passing large volumes of urine because of the diuretic properties. Vomiting and diarrhoea are common in dogs who have eaten chocolate.
